COPPOCK's HAWAIIANS

On our CD Sol Hoopii in Hollywood we included two recordings made by Coppock's Hawaiians ...from a rare 78 release on the Sunset label . We could find next to no information about the band except that Dave Mahuka's name was shown on the record label . Mahuka became a music teacher in West Virginia ...and that was the sum total of our knowledge.

Recently Peter Blecha has done an amazing piece of research into Coppock's Hawaiians and the mystery is now solved. You can read the full story by looking at the following website historylink.org
Search for John Coppock and you will discover two  fascinating articles by Peter which tell  the remarkable story of John Coppock from Peshastin in Washington state. Of particular interest to us was the fact that Coppock worked at one point in time for Irene West , Sam Ku's manager . Historylink by the way is an online encyclopedia of Washington State History. We hope that they ( and Peter)  don't mind us copying this image ...John Coppock is on steel guitar

...and also follow this link to hear a great radio interview with Peter Blecha on kuow.org
again just use the search facility to look for John Coppock !

( now ...does anyone know who Charles Frederick's Hawaiians were ???!!!)
